Real-world outcomes from the FLEX Vessel Prep (VP) system in arteriovenous fistulae and grafts show good safety results with no serious adverse events at 30 days and a high six-month primary patency rate.

Dr Ari Kramer (Spartanburg Medical Centre, Spartanburg, US) joins us to discuss outcomes from the prospective, multi-centre, observational study using the FLEX FIRST AV registry (NCT05616104; VentureMed Group). The study aimed to assess the FLEX Vessel Prep (VP) system followed by plain balloon angioplasty in arteriovenous fistulae or grafts in 130 diverse, high-risk patients with symptomatic access dysfunction.

Interview Questions:
1. What are the unmet needs in access management for arteriovenous fistulae and grafts, and what did the FLEX FIRST AV registry aim to address?
2. Could you tell us about the unique features of the FLEX VP system?
3. What was the study design and patient population?
4. What were the key findings?
5. What are the take-home messages for practice?
6. What further research is needed in this area?
7. Do you have any final comments?

Recorded remotely from Spartanburg, 2025.
