Overview
The inaugural Vascular Interventions Online 2021 (30 June - 2 July) brought together a world-class faculty to provide expert insight and educational learning on the latest developments in vascular management.
Combining expert opinion and discussion from a world-class faculty, insightful presentations, and live cases from centres on both sides of the Atlantic, VIO 2021 delivered best-in-class learning, supporting the latest in diagnosis, treatment strategies and patient management in vascular care.

Faculty Biographies
Lukla Biasi
Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon
Lukla Biasi is an experienced vascular and endovascular surgeon with a dedicated commitment to the sub-specialty of lower limb revascularisation.
He was appointed as a consultant vascular surgeon at St Thomas’ in 2016. He is an active member of the diabetic foot care team and he is running vascular and diabetic foot clinics at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
Prior to this, following a clinical-research fellowship at St Georges' Vascular Institute, he completed his specialist training at the University Hospital of Parma where he was appointed as consultant vascular surgeon in 2009.
He graduated with distinguished honours from the University of Bologna Medical School (Italy).
Thanos Saratzis
Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon
Mr Saratzis is an Associate Professor of Vascular Surgery and Honorary Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon with an interest in clinical and translational research. His clinical focus is complex peripheral revascularisation. He is currently based at the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and Department of Cardiovascular Sciences (University of Leicester), supported by an NIHR Advanced Fellowship as well as several other research awards.
Prior to this, he completed his higher surgical training in Birmingham (West Midlands Deanery), Leicester (East Midlands Deanery), and London (Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust), funded by the NIHR as a Fellow and subsequently as a Clinical Lecturer. He completed a short BSET-funded endovascular fellowship in the USA (Houston, Texas). Konstantinos Stavroulakis
Consultant of vascular and endovascular surgery
Dr Konstantinos Stavroulakis is a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at St. Franziskus Hospital, Münster, Germany. He trained at the University of Crete Medical School until 2009. He moved to Germany in 2012 and became a Trainee of Surgery and Vascular Surgery at the Paracelsus Clinic Marl, Germany. He achieved his Postgraduate (Dr.med) qualification in March 2016 from the Westphälische-Wilhelms-Universität Münster. His thesis was - Combination therapy with directional atherectomy and drug eluting balloon angioplasty for isolated lesions of the popliteal artery. He currently is Scientific Director of the Institute for Vascular Research as well as Editor in Chief Vascupedia. As well as being involved in numerous research trials he presents at all the major vascular congresses.
