This year’s focus remains firmly on the practical. Faculty Biographies
Thanos Saratzis
Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon
Mr Saratzis is an Associate Professor of Vascular Surgery and Honorary Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon with an interest in clinical and translational research. His clinical focus is complex peripheral revascularisation. He is currently based at the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) and Department of Cardiovascular Sciences (University of Leicester), supported by an NIHR Advanced Fellowship as well as several other research awards.
Prior to this, he completed his higher surgical training in Birmingham (West Midlands Deanery), Leicester (East Midlands Deanery), and London (Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust), funded by the NIHR as a Fellow and subsequently as a Clinical Lecturer. He completed a short BSET-funded endovascular fellowship in the USA (Houston, Texas). Leigh Ann O'Banion
Assistant Professor Of Surgery
Dr Leigh Ann O’Banion, is an Assistant Clinical Professor, Department of Surgery, at the University of California San Francisco Fresno, UCSF Fresno Center for Medical Education and Research.
Leigh Ann received her undergraduate degree in Biologic Sciences from Louisiana State University and her medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. She completed her general surgery residency at UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program, Fresno, California. Subsequently, she completed her Vascular Fellowship at UCSF. Leigh Ann is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in General and Vascular Surgery. She is also a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI)
Leigh Ann has been a faculty member in the Department of Surgery since 2017. Leigh Ann’s clinical and didactic teaching involves educating, lecturing, mentoring, and supervising medical students and residents that rotate on the vascular surgery service…
Stefano Fazzini
Vascular Surgeon
Dr Stefano Fazzini is vascular surgeon trained in all areas of vascular and endovascular surgery, focusing on complex aortic disease and peripheral artery disease. He completed his fellowship and PhD at Sapienza University of Rome. In 2010 he joined the clinical staff at San Filippo Neri Hospital in Rome, and then he moved to Muenster, Germany, as visiting researcher from Sapienza University of Rome (2019-2020). Since 2020 he is part of the Vascular Surgery of Tor Vergata University of Rome as researcher and consultant of Vascular Surgery. He authored many peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts, and book chapters. He teaches medical students, residents, and fellows about vascular disease management and gave hundreds of presentations at international/national congresses and symposia.
Narayanan Thulasidasan
Consultant Interventional Radiologist
Dr Narayanan Thulasidasan is a consultant interventional radiologist at at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK. Narayanan has authored or co-authored several articles published in leading peer-reviewed journals, has lectured widely, and has served as a speaker at several leading international vascular events.
